This course will introduce terminologies, basic techniques, and some systems of data communications. Students will learn concepts and basic knowledge needed for understanding modern data communication systems. This course focuses mostly on physical layer and data link layer.

Homework, quiz, and class participation: 10% Midterm 1: 30% Midterm 2: 30% Project (presentation and report): 30% *Homework should be written in English and turned in before the class begins. No late submission is allowed. *Midterms are closed book, closed notes, no computers/tabs/smart phones, etc. Midterms should be answered in English. *Report needs to be written in the specified format. No late submission is allowed.
