* This course is designed for those of you who wish to improve your English proficiency in academic setting. * It’s a hands-on class, which means it’s a LEARNING BY DOING class. It’s reading- and writing- intensive, and it requires lost of preparation, discussion, class interaction, and mutual-collaboration among all class participants. * Through reading and writing assignments, peer reviews, and writing consultation, by the end of the class, students should be able to: -- know how to read and analyze a research article in humanities and social sciences studies. -- know how to deliver your thoughts in plain and simple English. -- know how to lead a discussion. -- know how to give and take constructive criticism with your peers. -- know how to critically and systematically evaluate your own texts and those of your peers. -- improve your writing and critical thinking and presentation skills. -- become more familiar with the vocabulary, sentence structures, and other writing conventions of humanities and social sciences English.

*Class participants MUST attend the first day of class. Those who register but miss the first class will be dropped from the class w/o notice.
