本門課的設計宗旨在於協助學生從經典文化理論出發,透過跨學科的思考路徑,進入文化研究的歷史脈絡以及當代議題。我們將探討的面向區分為三大單元: 1. 第一單元:閱讀馬克思、傅柯、阿岡本、巴里巴爾、巴迪烏、米尼奧羅幾位文化理論思想家,討論資本主義邏輯、文化無意識、意識形態、邊界政治、生命治理等當代議題,並銜接東亞史觀與歷史敘事的問題。 2. 第二單元:聚焦於啟蒙思想,閱讀經典啟蒙思想,並且將這些不同的啟蒙思想放回歷史時代脈絡,並且討論啟蒙思潮與我們當代的切身關連。 3. 第三單元:以傅柯的著作為典範,展開關於知識考古學到社會系譜學的銜接,討論後現代理論的誕生,論述和實踐的發展與互相關連,以便闡釋後現代「理論」的歷史突破及「當代」文化研究的未來趨勢。 第一單元 經典文化理論與當代議題 授課教師:劉紀蕙 單元主旨:本單元將閱讀馬克思、佛洛伊德、施密特、阿圖塞、傅柯、阿岡本、巴里巴爾幾位經典文化理論思想家,討論他們的思想如何可以協助我們介入當代議題,包括資本主義邏輯、文化無意識、意識形態與邊界政治、生命治理,並且以共同體問題作為單元小結。 第二單元 啟蒙思潮與當代情境 授課老師:朱元鴻 單元主旨:我們可能讀過一些啟蒙思潮的文獻,但常是抽離開時代背景地讀其文章,未必參照著歷史社會背景來理解這些文獻發自什麼樣的鬥爭脈絡。若我們貼著 Afklarung 所發生的時代,例如十八世紀最後廿年間的普魯士社會,那麼讀這些文章將發現啟蒙思潮乃熱烈投入其當代切身的鬥爭:亦即,針對來自宗教權威與世俗統治者對於思想、知識探討與言說表達的檢禁(censorship)。我們將發現,廿一世紀許多當代社會仍處於類似的情境,例如中國以及一些伊斯蘭政教國家對於媒體與互聯網的內容控制與屏蔽,以及因言論而招致褻瀆罪(Blasphemy)(或煽動顛覆罪)的律法等等,而也發生著爭取思想與言說自由的類似鬥爭。本單元重讀幾篇十八世紀末的關鍵文獻,藉著傅柯對於Afklarung與覺察的現代性所做的闡說,以及當代伊斯蘭社會以褻瀆罪進行教令格殺(fatwa)相對於西方認知的言論自由之間不斷衝突的論辯,來理解啟蒙思潮與我們當代的切身關連。 單元三 從知識考古學到社會系譜學—後現代理論的誕生 授課老師:陳奕麟 單元主旨:本單元以Foucault的著作為典範,探討論述和實踐二觀念的發展甚至互相關連,以便闡釋後現代「理論」的歷史突破及「當代」文化研究的未來趨勢。 *必讀或重要著作;+選讀或參考著作;其餘為進階參考資料
第一單元作業要求: 1. 課堂討論以及每週閱讀札記。每週上課前一天,完成2000字左右的評論,在eCampus上傳,以便上課時討論。 2. 內容包括:(1)文章論點主旨以及展開的論點層次,(2)評論你是否同意,或是有什麼延伸的想法,(3)提出2-3個問題。 3. 第五週的討論,請設法總結本單元各週的議題。 第二單元作業要求 作業要求:本單元的評量基於課程參與討論,以及一篇約六千字的報告。第五週上課時每位同學繳交一頁的報告主題構想,課堂上每位做五分鐘的口頭報告,相互討論。 第三單元作業要求 作業要求:本單元作業要求是兩篇(筆試)報告,學期結束前隨時可以交。筆試題目待定;每個題目原則上寫2000-2500字的答案。
