This course is a graduate course on the emerging area of Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine Communications (M2M). The course will cover lectures, labs and exploration of research topics. The lecture will teach students the M2M architecture proposed by oneM2M and cover IoT/M2M area networks, IoT/M2M core networks, IoT/M2M service architecture, the role of IP in IoT/M2M and IoT/M2M security. Moreover, several key IoT/M2M applications will also be explored in the lecture. The Labs will also focus on hands-on experiments based on course material using Android handset as sensor network and OM2M as service architecture. Finally, selected papers will be distributed for exploration of research topics in this emerging area.
