This one credit course is meant to give students practice English presentation in front of an audience and to explore topics of their own choosing academic papers published in recent two years. Students will organize their own presentations for other students. The topics should be an aspect of physical chemistry and must be approved by the lecturer in advance (see schedule for deadline). As a matter of course, you must not give your presentation similar to one you have already delivered in another class. To help students improve as speakers, each student will receive feedback from the fellow students and the instructor. After your seminar, arrange a time to meet with me to discuss your performance.

No need

First, you select 3-5 academic papers in an aspect of the physical chemistry. The papers should be published in recent two years of 2015-2016 or 2017. The selected papers should be sent to me to check the contents by noon of ONE WEEK prior to your presentation day. You also must choose to use PowerPoint for your presentation. It is also your responsibility to arrange for any equipment if you require. Each student will give about 30-minute presentations followed by question time. Tell a complete story about your chosen topic. You should be thoroughly familiar with the paper on your topic. Explain concepts simply and clearly, and define all terms and acronyms. Be prepared to answer questions after your seminar. Your final grade will be determined by several factors: the quality and content of your presentation, your improvement from the first to the second, your participation in the class as a whole, and your ability to meet scheduled deadlines.
