Present the basic theory of linear operators in finite and infinite dimensional spaces as needed for formal study of quantum mechanics. This course is a mathematical introduction to quantum mechanics following a rigorous mathematical exposition developed by Tosio Kato in his famous textbook "Perturbation Theory for Linear Operators". The class will follow closely the textbook exposition in a pace appropriate for all the students in the class to follow. Accordingly, we will cover probably not the whole textbook but only its part.
must be previously taken by students: Linear Algebra, Mathematical Analysis
The student score will be based upon the exercises solved in the class. The exercises are taken from the textbook.
