Science requires specific methods that tests, confirms, or disconfirms hypotheses that lend supporting evidence or no evidence to a theory. You will learn about the philosophy of science, how to find research questions and create hypothesis, learn how to design and conduct an experiment. I will introduce the concepts of reliability and validity. You will learn how to design an instrument and write a research proposal adhering to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

SPSS and Mplus will be introduced for homework assignment. Please email the teaching assistant and the instructor if you will be absent for a lecture.
Reliability and validity homework 10%; midterm exam 20% ;final report 25% , one to two pages of paper summary 25%, Oral paper presentation (10%) Attendance and Participation (10%)
