Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) represent a major transition in transportation on many dimensions. It is an international program intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of surface transportation systems through advanced technologies in information systems, communications, and sensors. The objectives of this course are to introduce the latest development, theory, applications and future of ITS, and prepare the students with the ability to handle traffic data for model development. By the end of the semester, each student will be able to: (1) explain traffic phenomenon from data for the purpose of traffic management and control; (2) manipulate traffic data used in traffic and transportation; (3) apply mathematical models for ATIS and APTS applications.
Grading: ‧ 30%: Assignment, discussion and attendance ‧ 40%: Written exams ‧ 30%: Final presentation and report
