The major objective of the class will be to develop an appreciation of strategies and methods in the field of natural product synthesis. Students or participants are expected to have mastered the topics traditionally covered in undergraduate organic chemistry courses. You will be introduced to factors and design elements that contribute to an ideal synthesis. Synthetic applications of those concepts and principles aiming for the ideality will be presented. Students are strongly encouraged to involve in discussions and exchange of opinions. Toward the end of the semester, students are expected to be able to propose a synthetic route to any given molecules in a logic approach.
