Freshman English I is an integrated course designed to develop students' four English skills (listening, speaking, reading, & writing) with an emphasis on speaking and listening. In this course, students will: 1. Identify listening problems and develop listening strategies and skills, 2. Gain confidence in speaking and improve speaking fluency, pronunciation, and conversation strategies, 3. Develop general reading skills, including word skills and comprehension strategies, 4. Develop writing fluency by writing a short passage in 170-200 words.
