The aim of this course is to enhance students' critical English reading abilities and develop students’ ability to write well-developed paragraphs of college writing. Students will read a variety of texts styles with enhanced fluency following coherent and effective use of reading strategies. Students will also actively engage in extensive reading with a critical perspective (e.g., distinguishing between fact and opinion, evaluating sources, and identifying points of view).For writing, students will build their paragraph writing skills and eventually learn to the ability to write a five paragraph essay following logical division of ideas.
修畢英文基礎課程或具備等同CEFR B1+ 英語文能力 備註:選課系統上之正選生若第一次上課未出席也未事先完成缺課請假程序,將視同放棄修課權利,名額將直接由候補者遞補。
(1) Attendance: * Attend classes and participate in class and activities * Late arrivals and unexcused absence for 3 times without prior approval or official reasons will affect your attendance mark. (2) Participation: * You are required to read assigned material (e.g. textbook, handout, website articles) before coming to class. * Active participation in classroom discussion and activities is also expected. (2) Assignments and Final Project: * Turn in each writing assignment on time. Scores will be deducted for late assignments. You will be asked to turn in the late assignment within one week. * Finish your group presentation collaboratively with your members. (3) Class Etiquette and Participation: * Turn off your cell phones during class ABSOLUTELY. Each cell phone ringing during class may affect the score in “participation”. * Dozing off or without a book will affect your grade. (4) Others * The details of writing assignments, group presentation, quizzes will be given in weekly course schedule and E3. * Adjustments may be made in the syllabus to meet students’ needs and course requirements. * Intellectual Property Right: Use only copyrighted textbook in class. * No make-up exams will be given unless there is an official reason with prior approval.
