概述

A good leader inspires people. In order to motivate people and spur them into action, you need to get your ideas across in a clear, persuasive and inspirational manner. The objective of the course is to help students to become more confident and effective public speakers in English. As such, the course will focus primarily on students' speaking and listening skills in both formal and less formal situations. The course will be broadly split into three areas: 1) Effective presentations skills 2) Negotiation skills 3) Soft skills - inspiring, persuading & entertaining Students will engage in a wide variety of individual, pair and group activities, in addition to focused listening activities, associated with each of these areas. At the end of the course, successful students will be able to confidently present on all manner of topics; field and respond to questions on their presentations; engage in small talk before and after presentations; and also have the negotiation skills required to follow up on their speech's goals.

評分方式

Students should be aware that attendance is mandatory for all parts of the course. Final grades will be calculated upon the following: Participation & Attendance (10%) Self study (10%) Oral performances (80%) As the main objective of the course is to improve English speaking and listening, great emphasis will be placed on the effective oral production of English. This is reflected in the weighting of grades given to oral performance.
