The major goal of Principles of Communication Engineering (I,II) is to teach students about the basic principles underlying the operation and design of a communication system. It is a core course in the Department of Communication Engineering. The course PCE2 will follow approximately the following schedule: Passband Digital Transmission (Chapter 6) Spread Spectrum Modulation (Chapter 7) Multiuser Radio Communications (Chapter 8) Fundamental Limits in Information Theory (Chapter 9) Error-Control Coding (Chapter 10) We expect a student who finishes the course to be able to understand the basic operating principles of current communication systems or standards. Moreover, we sincerely hope that a student who learns the course material will be equipped with the ability to analyze and design a communication system.

測驗日期 ? 期中考:四月三日星期二舉行,兩小時。 預定範圍:6-1至6-11。 ? 期中考:五月十一日星期五舉行,兩小時。 預定範圍:6-12至第八章結束。 ? 期末考:六月二十二日星期五舉行,兩小時。 預定範圍:第九章與第十章。 ? 習題式隨堂考: * 隨堂考將於加退選截止日(三月二日星期五)後,除期中考前後週與期中考週、期末考前週與期末考週外,每週五舉行。 * 第一次隨堂考為三月九日星期五,最後一次隨堂考為六月八日星期五,共計八次 (三九日、三月十六日、三月二十三日、四月二十日、四月二十七日、五月二十五日、六月一日、六月八日隨堂考)。 * 隨堂考題將由「前週公告於課程網站的四至五題參考題」中,隨機選一至兩題(經適度修改內容)抽考為原則,考試時間為十分鐘。 成績計算標準 45% (兩次期中考與期末考的平均) + 30% 隨堂考平均 + 25% (兩次期中考與期末考的最高分) = 學期原始成績 備註:若因故無法參加期中考與期末考,必需事先請假並將另行安排時間補考。若因故無法參加隨堂考,亦請事先請假,隨堂考平均則以參加隨堂考次數為母數進行平均 (例如八次隨堂考中,兩次?公假,則隨堂考平均為六次隨堂考成績的平均)。若未請假而缺考,則以零分計。
