Students are trained to write with grammatically correct sentences to form easily understood essays. Besides, they are required to analyze different modes of writing and the writing techniques used in each model essay depicted in the text book. In each chapter, reading precedes writing, which provides inspiration as well as instruction for actual writing tasks that follow.
Lecturing. in class writing, group discussion, and oral presentation
Assignments: 1. Write four paragraphs/ essays on topics among chapters 6-15. Each paragraph/essay should come with a pre-writing, an outline, and a peer-editing. All assignments should be handed in at most two weeks after the presentation. Deadlines for each assignment are as indicated above. 2. Preview textbook according to syllabus . 3. Answer questions to quizzes from chapters 9-22 between week 2-13. 4. Give one oral presentation based on group premises on any article in part four of the text book. You need to summarize the essay (2-5min), analyze the thesis and organization, techniques and styles as suggested at the end of each paragraph reading (5-10min). Provide a personal comment as well (2-5min). Present your work in power point framework with sound and sight effect. Other students should give feedback after the presentation. Standard of Evaluation: 1. Quality of assignment 40% 2. Final Exam : Oral Presentations 20% 3. Quizzes 10% 4. Team work: Class Participation 10% 5. Peer-editing 10%
