This course is designed to further strengthen students’ communication skills, with a specific focus on refining their planning, listening, questioning, persuasion, presentation, and negotiation skills. Students will be equipped with abilities that are needed for academic and employment purposes, as well as skills that are needed for cross-cultural communication. In this course, students will not only “learn to use English,” but also “use English to learn,” where they will be asked to participate in a mock job interview and a mock negotiation. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to communicate effectively and appropriately in different contexts. These goals will be achieved through lectures, discussions, assignments, and various activities conducted in class. Students are anticipated to take full responsibility in their own learning, and play an active role in class.
