The main objective of this introductory course is to help students to learn how to read graphic narratives, to understand its vocabulary and grammar, and to discuss the ways in which various forms of graphic narrative—comics, manga, animation, etc.—engage with sociopolitical issues as well as personal and collective memory. A thematic approach is chosen to access the interdependence and integration of words and visual images in the various genres of graphic narratives.
