Course Description This course will discuss the principles of signal integrity and its applications in design of high-speed digital circuits. Topics include the following: 1. Fundamental principle of Signal Integrity 2. Transmission Line and termination 3. Crosstalk 4. Non-ideal transmission line 5. Connectors, Packages, and Vias 6. Non-ideal return paths, simultaneous switching noise, and power delivery 7. Digital Timing Analysis 8. Design methodologies 9. Radiated emissions compliance and system noise minimization 10. High-speed measurement techniques Course Goal To understand the fundamentals of high speed signal propagation in circuits and cables. To be able to apply knowledge to determine where signal integrity/power integrity is critical and apply best-known methods to approach it.
Electromagnetics (I) (II), Circuit Theory
Slides and application notes will be provided, but students still need to take note in class.
