遍佈式計算(英文授課)

This course aims at: 1. Introducing students to pervasive computing using smartphones and IoT devices, 2. Providing students with hands-on experience in developing pervasive computing applications, 3. Cultivating their innovative power and entrepreneurial spirit. This course is a Makers Course, which advocates the principle of "learning by doing". The classroom activities will consist mainly of round-table discussions, hands-on tutorials and project development sessions. Lectures will only be given to provide background and layout the framework for subsequent discussions.

Basic knowledge in Computer Networks and Java Programming (Strong interests and high motivation are more important than specific skills)

This course will use NCTU e3 Teaching Website as the means for dispatching lecture notes and tracking team projects. This course will conduct hands-on team projects using the following prototyping platforms and tools: + Android Smartphones – students should use their own smartphones; + FireBase - DaaS Platform; + Facebook & Google Map API – Social & Web Service Platforms; + [Optional] NVidia Jeston – Embedded AI Platform.

Course Format: This course will consist of thematic lectures, hands-on technology tutorials and team projects. Students will be evaluated based on their performance in doing specific exercises and their performance in their team projects. Grading Policy: + Technology Exercises: 4 x 10% + Team Project: - Ideas: 10% - Design: 20% - Implementation: 30%
