This course describes the feature and configuration of the serial communication that is common method of transmitting data between a computer and a peripheral device such as a programmable instrument or even another computer. This course focuses on the practice implementation and related applications of the microprocessors. This course introduces fundamental principles and hardware. Students will design simple systems using an 8051 microcontroller and peripheral hardware. Labs include designing a keypad interface, a 4-digit seven-segment displays, RS232 interface, I2C interface and SPI interface. These labs are designed to teach you about using serial communication interface networks.
