傳播英語專題:休閒與旅遊

This course is to help the students be familiar with various English in the media (including video, audio and texts). The students will have a chance to watch or read materials from HBO, Discovery, National Geographic channel, Travel channels, CNN, The New York Times, YouTube, YouKu... etc. to elevate their English ability in accessing the media. But the focus will be more on the broadcast media or the web media This syllabus may be changed without prior notice to the students.

Word study: Every week, each student will be required to study a few words with his teammates and share with other students in the class. (Maybe there will be a spelling bee contest). Quiz: there will be an easy quiz every 3 weeks to help the students be familiar with the words in the media they have learned in the previous weeks. Final project: at the end of the semester. Each group should focus on one English movie and present to the class all what they have learned from this movie. Grade: Attendance: 30% (including word games, spelling bees, and assignments) Weekly notes and quizzes: 30% Final Project: 30% (show us a clip of your favorite movie) Final Dictionary (sorted from your notes) 20%
