有機化學(一)

The course is an introduction to organic chemistry, focusing primarily on the basic principles to understand the bonding, structure, physical, and chemical properties of organic molecules. How to name the organic molecules systematically and how to study the kinetic properties of the organic molecules in chemical reactions.

Classes are given in English and students should have basic English listening ability.

Assignment: No assignment for the course, but students are recommended to solve the in-chapter and end-of-chapter problems, which can strengthen / clarify the concepts that they learn from the video. Solutions for selected problems will be provided upon request. Grading: Students are graded based on the average score from the module 1 and module 2 examinations. Passing mark of the examination is 60 or above. Module 1 examination covers chapters 1-5 and module 2 examination covers chapters 6-10. The dates of the module 1 and module 2 examinations will be on Dec-1-2018 (Sat.) and Feb-16-2019 (Sat.). Students can take the module examination either on Dec-1-2018 (Sat.) or Feb-16-2019 (Sat.), but cannot take the examination of the same module twice. Note: Any change on the date of an examination will inform students four weeks before the examination Students absent from the examination with no notice will not be graded Students should strictly follow the rules of the public examination. The examinations are closed-book examination. Students should strictly follow the rules of the public examination. Unauthorized access to textbook and textbook related materials are not allowed in the examination.
