線上評量--- Online Oral Report (題目另行公佈) 25% 可將口頭報告實況錄影、或如同本課程影片般錄製投影片影音報告(人可不入鏡),並上傳系統,詳情於課程簡介影片中說明。 線下測驗--- Homework 25% Examination-1 [Ch1~2] 25% Examination-2 [Ch3~6] 25% 兩項考試均允許多次(上、下學期各一次)測驗,取其最高分計算 考試日期預定(Saturday): 2018/12/1_Exam-1, 2019/3/9_Exam-2, 2019/5/11_Exam-1, 2019/7/27_Exam-2 考試日期若因故延期將於於?定日期兩週前公布 Homework 最遲於考試前12~10天(Mon~Wed)繳交給助教,考試前3~1天可取回。亦可選擇上傳清晰易讀之Homework影像檔,但必須經助教試閱核可,否則仍需繳交紙本。

第 1 週Introduction to Optical Electronics. Ch1: EM wave, Gaussian beam properties, briefly go through Ch1..2~1.4 (phenomena and properties)
第 2 週Maxwell's eqs to Ch1.5: deeper physics in eqs, case study for kz kt and spectrum.
第 3 週Summary of Near-Field (with real-/momentum-space) and Far-Field. Fraunhofer / Fressnel diffraction with paraxial approximation. Derivation of Gaussian beam, Gouy phase shift. Simplified estimation of beam delivery.
第 4 週Dispersion relation (simple dipole module), Cauchy / Sellmeier coefficients. Snell's Law (ch1.5). Fresnel's eqs (ch1.6, my note): derivation; external reflection -> internal -> TIR~phase only ~ penetration depth of evanescent wave and Goos-Hanchen shift
第 5 週-> coefficients and their phase in Kasap and Hecht; Brewster angle; Evanescent wave (again, derive?); HW-ch1 remind. Opt tunneling (+my). R and T intensity; AR coating and dielectric mirrors (and DBR). Device: BS and PBS. Laser Induced Damage Threshold.
第 6 週Ch1.8 Attenation coefficient α, complex refractive index. Ch1.9 Temporal and Spatial Coherence. Resonator, Fabry-Perot cavity, etalon. 1.12: Grating. (1.14: Thin film.) 1.15: multiple reflection, incoherent wave. 1.16 scattering. Ch2~ppt.21
