語言學概論(一)

This course provides an introduction to fundamental concepts in modern linguistics, with emphasis on linguistic analysis. The textbook provides a thorough survey of topics in core areas of contemporary linguistics. Some of the questions we will consider are: Why are children better language learners than adults? How do human languages differ? Are some languages or dialects better than others? Lectures and review sections will further develop selected topics of importance. Classroom work will emphasize the development of the ability to apply linguistic principles to the analysis of data drawn from a variety of languages.
