This course will cover the process (e.g., design- build- iterate loop) and skills to build innovative interactive systems, with a light touch on usability testing. Process section covers idealization, lo-fi prototyping and heuristic evaluation. Skill section includes practical knowledge, techniques and tools in creating interactive systems in particularly the virtual reality applications. In addition, this course teaches basic understanding to interaction design by walking students through common practices/principles in the design of multitouch, tangible and body based user interfaces. Students will form project teams to create novel interactive devices and showcase the derived interactions.
