This course introduces students to (1) foundational knowledge of TESOL theories, research, and practice and (2) innovation and design thinking approaches that aim to apply TESOL knowledge to solving real-world problems related to TESOL. Through reading, class discussion, and writing assignments, students will develop critical thinking skills in approaching theories and methods. Through case studies and problem-based learning, students will apply design thinking approaches to identify, (re)frame, and develop innovative solutions to, real-world challenges in the teaching and learning of English as a second or foreign language.
