一、課程目標 自1990年代以來,世界流傳最廣的fancy word之一,當屬「全球化」。但究竟琅琅上口的「全球化」,其具體內涵何指、歷史來源為何、以及何以成為跨領域皆須探討的概念,是人文社會科學碩士生在深化學習時必須理解的核心概念與必經的探索過程。而全球化和傳播之間的緊密發展,更是當代資本主義發展的重要特色。傳播成為一切變化的前沿;同時,傳播又加速世界往折疊空間發展。 本堂課旨在探討傳播與全球化的關係。 課程分兩大部分: (一) 傳播?球化的基本概念: 從資本主義發展的源起,探究伴生的文化帝國主義(cultural imperialism)現象與全球好萊塢(Global Hollywood)。同時,後福特主義之後,出現新國際分工(NICL)、全球在地化(glocalization)等新的變化,影響今日文化勞動者(cultural labor)的國際流動方向。對於如何理解新的世局,我們探究不同的理論取徑,包括後殖民理論與混雜性(Hybridity)以及全球現代性(global modernity)。 (二) 傳播全球化的最新現象: 第二部份,我們進入當代傳播全球化的最新現象,特別是區域市場的興起,帶來的Global/ Regional/ Local的三層辯證關?。例如南亞的Bollywood、非洲的Nollywood、東亞的Korean Wave, Cool Japan, China’s going global等,都顯示了當代傳播的複雜性。全球迷群的形成、移民的遷徙與Global TV Format等等新型態的文化交易,更使情況變化萬千。在目不暇給的變化中,如何展現傳播的潛能,推向更好的彼岸,更是我們最終但不是最後的質問。 修課學生應熟讀每週指定教材內容,於上課前預先繳交閱讀心得、輪流帶領課堂導讀,並於期末完成一篇報告。透過教材閱讀、上課討論與指定作業,本課程期待學生能充份了解傳播與全球化的重要議題、理論與實例,並運用於媒介現象?反思。

1. 每週閱讀摘要與提問(40%): 簡述當週指定論文各篇的重點及你的評論或延伸想法。每週一12:00(中午)前上傳e3。 2. 導讀(20%): 2人一組合作,於課堂上導讀當週指定論文的重點,並提出至少2個可討論的議題(ppt檔),每周二8:00前上傳e3。 3. 期末報告(30%): 4. 課堂參與(10%):含出席與參與討論。
