The course aims to help you develop advanced writing skills for different purposes and contexts. In this course, you are going to explore different types of writing topics and rhetorical modes. It is expected that by the end of the course, you will be able to 1. be familiar with English writing, 2. be aware of writing for different purposes. 3. use appropriate genres to fit into different rhetorical modes 4. offer critical comments on self- and peer writing work, and 5. present critical thinking in individual and group writing work.
Basic reading and writing (Honor English Program) or other English writing course You need to have to the knowledge about basic English sentence structures and know how to write paragraphs.
The course will adopt E3 (http://e3.nctu.edu.tw) and OPWIS (http://writing.nctu.edu.tw) for aternative online platforms
評量部份: 1. Class attendance and participation 10% 2. Writing assignments (7 assignments and 1 in-class timed writing, including peer review) 55% 3. Writing project (including a proposal, your writing, a presentation, and a report) 20% 4. Portfolio (including a reflection paper and final editing of each assignment) 5%
