This course focuses on advanced challenges in Chinese-English translation and some basic translation theory. Students will read and discuss chapters and complete exercises in two textbooks, one written primarily in Chinese, one primarily in English. Student grades will be based on periodic quizzes and exams designed to demonstrate student mastery of advanced translation skills. The course trains students for real-world translation experience that one may encounter in a translation company.
This course is designed for DFLL students (majors and minors).
In-class individual and group activities. Some lecture and discussion.
Homework 10% (10 grade points) Quizzes 40% (20 grade points each) Exams 50% (25 grade points each) -2 points from final grade for each unexcused absence.
