概述

This course provides students a comprehensive view of fields in global business law and intellectual property management. Student will know not only basic legal knowledge in global trends but also know how to manage legal risks when starts her/his own business. Speakers will share theories and practices of patent and trade secret protection, company law, labor and equality law in workplace, foreign investment, security law, and foreign commercial law and policy. Topics include AI and big data, Economic Espionage Act, IP management, WTO laws, Japanese commercial laws, privacy protection and cyber law, and also the development of fintech and financial regulation. This course also introduces legal system and dispute resolution to students which will help students to start a business or want to invest to foreign market. The major contents of this course include: 1. IP law and the protection, including Corporate IP Management, Trade Secret Violation and Patent Licensing. 2. Corporate Law, including Business Association, Startup Law, Initial Public Offering (IPO), Corruption in Private Sector, Gender Equality in Workplace, and Overview on Japanese Law and Commercial Activities. 3. Financial Technology (Fintech) Law, including the development of FinTech industry and related regulations. 4. International Law. This part will focus on WTO Law, the dispute settlement and international arbitration. 5. AI and related legal issues. This course has three aims: 1. To introduce students global business trends and legal issues in AI era. 2. To help students protect IP and research results by understating IP management and trade secret protection in business associations. 3. To encourage students start and manage a company by knowing the legal process, foreign business law, security law, financial law, WTO laws and dispute resolution. Expected outcome: 1. Student’s comprehensive understanding in global business world 2. Student’s legal knowledge on business operation, corporate law, and legal risk management 3. Student’s ability on English legal literature and case study

先修科目

Students, under graduate or post graduate, who are interested in starting up a company, management, global corporate and commercial issues, are all welcome to taking this course. Students do not need to have legal background. This course encourages students to start her/his owned company and know the legal process and dispute resolution. Students interested in corporate litigation and corporate practice in global scenario will be particularly benefited from various speakers who are the experts in different legal fields. Student Background: This course is welcome for all students who are interested in the global business law and IP management. Students with no prior legal background could enroll in the class as well. Prerequisite: There is no prerequisite to enroll to this class. Foreign language ability: This course, both lectures and case study exercises will be taught in English. Most reading materials of this course are in English as well. Students need to read, listen, and discuss issues in English. Final report could be written in either English or Chinese.

教學方式

In-class (Hsinchu campus), On-line class, Off-line class Course related information will be announced via the e3 platform at the appropriate time. Please feel free to contact with professors or Jessica (jca888@g2.nctu.edu.tw) if you have any problem. If you are not able to attend to the class, please contact with the professor and get the authorization from the professor. On-line students participating in synchronous classes or asynchronous classes must physically attend to the class to conduct the oral presentation of the group project.

評分方式

Grading: 1. Class participation (10%) 2. Group discussion and presentation (30%): Students will be divided into several groups and assigned a case to conduct further research. Each group should have an oral presentation in English in the class to demonstrate how they analyzing the case. 3. Individual research paper (60%): Each student should choose one topic related to the course contents and finish an individual research paper. The research paper can write in either Chinese or English. 4. No final examination. Expected outcome: 1. The group project will evaluate the student’s ability of teamwork and the ability to analyze the case assigned. 2. The individual research paper will evaluate the student's ability to understand the basic knowledge of the global business law and IP management. It will also evaluate the student's ability to conduct the further research of legal issues.
