1930-1940王亞南的政治經濟論在中國

Course start from 2019/4/2 - 5/7 Tuesday (13:20-16:20) Description: This mini-course introduces some of the critical essays written by political economist, Wang Yanan, in the 1930s and 1940s. It is intended to help students think about Marxism in a Chinese setting, although this is a Marxism that is not tied to Communist Party dictates, but rather represents a rare independent philosophical and interpretive position on Marx and China. Readings will be in Chinese and English; class discussions will be in Chinese and English; written work can be in either language, depending on what students wish to do.

Notes: 1. Students will write a reading memo every week, reflecting on the material and posing questions. This will be at most 1-2 pages. 2. Students will write a final paper (8-10 pages, English; 5-6 pages, Chinese) that takes up one supplementary set of Wang’s readings and discusses them in the context of the terms developed in the class. This will be due one week after the end of the class term.
