The classical notions are no longer adequate for nanoscale world nowadays and quantum physics must be considered for both academic research and engineering applications. This course first highlights representative experimental phenomena of quantum transport in low-dimensional devices as well as the physics behind. Processing those quantum characters has been thought to be the key to advance current semiconductor devices. Thanks to the well-developed solid-state techniques, the more efficient and faster devices based on the principles of quantum mechanics is ready to come true. This course also encompasses the introduction of essential building devices and illustration of their working mechanisms according to semiconductor spintronics. This course will emphasize the ability to find and solve problems; therefore, oral presentation will be held in addition to the usual written tests. Undergraduate students who have background of quantum or modern physics are much welcome as well.
