* 根據陽明交大上課時間表所列
The course is designed to improve student’s English writing ability with a balance between reviewing grammatical structures and examining practical writing tasks. By the end of the course, students will be able to: - use grammatical knowledge to form correct sentences, demonstrating syntactic variety and appropriate word choice. - write well-organized and well-developed paragraphs with examples and details - produce different types of practical tasks such as resume, autobiography, cover letters, formal letters, emails, journal entries etc useful for academic purposes or for the workplace - identify and assess peer writing tasks and provide constructive feedback - complete a portfolio illustrating new knowledge, reflecting the learning to own experiences, and investigate further room for seamless learning
*第一堂課必須要到! 沒到的學生,會被自動退選! The teacher will distribute and explain a detailed syllabus with a tentative course schedule on the first class, so unless you have a good reason, please do not be absent. If you are absent without a reason, you will be automatically removed from the list.
Participate: Learning is a social act and can be best achieved within a community of learners (this class) through engaging, collaborative, and participatory class discussions. Each student is expected to engage in the assigned readings carefully, actively, and critically and come prepared to be an active participant of class discussions. Your individual contributions and serious participation in class activities benefit the entire community of learners (the class). Be an independent learner: You and you alone are responsible for your learning (not the instructor), and you also have an impact on the learning of others. Just going through the motions of completing course assignments at the bare minimum level of effort is not the type of academic work that earns a good grade. Points will be deducted off late work. If you feel you might have difficulty turning in any assignments, please contact me as soon as possible before the due date. Be honest: Cheating, plagiarizing, and photocopying textbooks are NOT tolerated and will result in the failure of the course. Attend all classes: Attendance will be taken in every class and the class does not allow any excused absences. That means not coming to class even with a legitimate reason or excuse will result in no attendance and participation marks for that class. Having said that, students do not need to email the teacher with an excuse since no points will be granted for not showing up to class. However, please note that more than 3 unexcused absences with no further explanation denotes a lack of effort and dedication to the course and will result in a direct failure of the course. Take this course only if you are sure that you can dedicate time and effort. All essays must be typed following these the guidelines: Paper: A4 Font: Times New Roman Heading: Include your full name, ID number, course number, assignment date Assignment title: Skip one line, and then center your title. Margins: Leave a 1-inch margin (2.54cm) on the left and right. Spacing: Double-space the body
