The course is designed to improve students' English writing ability to an academic level. Students will improve grammar for academic writing, write different types of essays, and write a research paper. 1. Students will improve grammar for writing. For example, students will learn complex sentence structures; correct usage of subject-verb agreement, pronoun reference, verb tense and forms, capitalization, and punctuation; and correcting errors such as fragments, choppy sentences, stringy sentences, run-on sentences, and unparalleled structures. 2. Students will learn different types of essay structures such as process essays, comparison essays, cause-effect essays, and argumentative essays. 3. Students will also learn to write a short research paper and use citation correctly (e.g. APA).
Prerequisite: Advanced English Reading and Writing 「進階英文閱讀與寫作」
