概述

This is the second half of Engineering Mathematics designed to be a full academic year course. This course is to establish the fundamental mathematical knowledge for sophomore mechanical engineering students. Vector calculus, linear algebra, Fourier analysis, and partial differential equations will be covered in this course.

教學方式

All of the course material will be posted on new e3 including lecture notes and homework solutions. All the material covered by English in class will be repeated again in mandarin. Homework are graded by effort not by correctness while all late submission (after solution posted) receives only half of the total points. Exam corrections will be given as extra points for both midterms, but not for the final exam. ※ For all quarantined students, QC3 (both real time and recorded) links will be posted on new e3. But in order to make sure all students are on the same page, links will only be available until 11:59 pm on the day that it is recorded. Homework: 15% (grade by effort) Midterm 1 & 2: 25% each (10 extra pts given for each exam correction) Final: 35%

第 8 週Gradient of a scalar field. Directional derivative. Divergence of a vector field. Curl of a vector field.
第 9 週Vector integrals. Path independence of line integrals.
第 10 週Greens's theorem. Surface integrals.
第 11 週Triple integrals. Divergence theorem. Stoke's theorem.
第 12 週Review. 5/20: Midterm II
第 13 週Exam correction. Fourier series, Fourier cosine and sine series. Fourier series of any period. Fourier integral.
第 14 週Fourier cosine and sine integral. Fourier transform. Convolution. Partial differential equations. Boundary value problems.
第 15 週Wave equations. Separation of variables. Fourier series.
第 16 週D'Alembert's solution of wave equation. Heat equation. Review.
第 17 週6/24: Final Exam
第 18 週Flexible Course.
