In view of the growing consensus that writing is a social and conversational act, this course is designed to: [1] demystify academic writing by isolating its basic moves, explaining them clearly, and representing them in the form of templates; [2] polish students' essay writing skills through asking students to participate in ongoing conversations about important public issues; [3] guide students to voice their opinions in a logical and intelligible manner through a mini debate; [4] provide students with a hands-on experience of structuring their essay/presentation through a Post-it workshop. The other important goal is to help students draft up their own Objectives & Key Results (OKR), track the progress, and evaluate their professional development based on their OKR.
