統計力學(一)

本課程最主要的目的是以「微觀」的觀點出發,藉著基本的物理定律來解釋我們所處的這個多彩繽紛的「巨觀」世界。這麼複雜的世界如何因著幾個簡單的物理原理而運作呢?想要知道這個世界是甚麼以及為什麼,本課程肯定是場心智的歷險。 為了穩固修課者的基礎與對課程的吸收,本課程將熱理學定律從頭介紹,循序漸進,最終結束於量子統計。本課程不好高騖遠,指定教科書雖為大學用書,然而其統計力學部分的難度與專業度已有研究所程度。課堂上亦將補充更進階的統計力學內容。 This course starts from the microscopic point of view and aims to understand the diversity of this university. It is an adventure of human intelligence. We shall begin from thermodynamics, and end with the introduction of quantum statistics. The textbook is nominally for the undergraduate class. However, its second part fits into the graduate introductory level.

需修過大一物理課程與微積分。 最好修過近代物理,但是並非一定必備。 Prerequisites: university physics and calculus. Modern physics preferred.
