This course is offered for Institute of Management of Technology students for the IMBA Program in National Chiao Tung University. It is designed for the level of Master degree or above. So, it will emphasize on the research related issues or materials, in addition to the MOT topics. It means that in this class, it will make students be ready for the research study in IOMOT for his/her degree. Due to the large scope of MOT topics, we highly recommend that the research report and paper should be focused on the small business and ventures activities development within those days. Today, the global economy grows very fast, and the development direction changes very quickly too. The most driving force is coming from the economics activities of industry modernized through the application of technology, includes software and hardware. Coming to today, it has trigged and entering into the routine living, includes the way to live, eating, moving, thinking, entertainment, education, communication, and expectation ... almost every thing in today’s living. Four hundreds movement of technology, entering 21st central, everyone is expecting the coming true of digital life. But, how many people really know the scenario and all impacts issues against the way we living today? Even more, it changes the way to get along with parents, teachers, and friends, the relationship between countries, nations, regions, and industry, business operations. It is so-called digital life, digital home, and digital contents. Will we have digital school, digital learning, digital car, digital robots, digital dogs, digital kids, even or digital version of you through bio-tech? How the world is would be changed? What I should do today to prepare for tomorrow? All those are coming from the movement of technology. What is about of technology? In this course, it will give you the first glare of technology features and it how to work or influence to human’s life. Industry and business operations are highly impact by the changes of technology. Which industry will disappear? Which emerging industry will come out soon? What are the business models will be gone and what the new one would be coming? Technology activities of Industry are creative ideas, innovation, patent and copy right, purchasing, product, manufacturing, marketing, strategy, competitiveness, cost, planning, budget, service, enterprise, industry, policy, venture, venture capital, incubation, etc.. Those activities are co-related with the fields of management, engineering, science, legal, society, policy, and economics. Those activities have defined the definition of management of technology. This class will introduce the MOT through the discussion of its emerging, contents, progress, and possible futures through forecasting and foresight.

Class will be lectured by instructor. The first two hours will teach each chapter, and the last hour will be questions and discussion.

作業部份: 考試部份: 評量部份: Every student has to be presence (15%) in each class. It means that missing one class will minus one point from the final grade. So, student has to sign-in when enter the class, and sign-off at the ending of each class. The performance (20%) in the class will be counted by question frequency and quality of each student. So, student has to announce his student number and name before ask questions. *Mid-term examination from Ch1-8 (30%) *Final examination from Ch9-15 (35%)
