Success or failure in business depends critically on the positioning of a company and the management of its resources. In this course, we explore the challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurial growth: How leaders create and lead a culture of innovation. We will guide you through an exploration of how to instill an innovation mindset within your organization and constantly improve how you relate to, interact with and inspire others to higher levels of creativity. We study studies principles of leading organizations, how these organizations create business value and continue to grow within an always evolving global economy, and implications for small and medium enterprises and start-ups. Topics include design thinking for growth, accelerating growth through M&A, macro trend and technology interact and intertwine, business models and pricing, measurement and accountability, creative destruction, the development of new capabilities, and marketing. The course is taught using a combination of lectures, case analysis, journal and book chapter reading, and class discussion.

Grading Schemes: Your score in the course will be based on the following (1) Midterm proposal (10%) (2) Term project and presentation (40%) (Details to be announced) (3) Case or paper presentation (30%) (4) Class participation (20%) Case or paper presentation Case or paper presentation may be done in groups of 3 but do not have to be. Please turn in only one copy with all of the names on it. Case report should briefly answer the questions (can be bullet points). The content is what is important. They are due on e3 before the start of the class period. Class Participation: In evaluating class participation, we will consider the following: - Is the participant a good listener? - Are the points that are made relevant to the discussion? - Are they linked to comments of others? - Do the comments show evidence of having completed assigned readings and homework assignments? - Do they move the discussion forward by introducing new aspects or issues to consider, or do they restate points that have already been made? - Do they demonstrate willingness to take risks and test new ideas, or just to play “safe”?
