This is the first half of Engineering Mathematics designed to be a full academic year course. This course is to establish the fundamental mathematical knowledge for sophomore mechanical engineering students. Ordinary differential equations and Laplace transforms will be covered in this course.
Calculus
A. All of the course materials will be available on new e3 including lecture notes and homework solutions. All the materials covered in class will be repeated again in mandarin right after the English version. B. Homework are graded by combination of effort and correctness while all late submissions (after solution posted) receive only half of the total points. Late submissions will not be accepted if it is not regarding the upcoming exam. C. Full points will be given as your final score if and only if the final score without the extra points from exam corrections is already 100.
Homework: 10% (30% correctness, 70% effort: show work-outs!) Midterm 1: 25% Midterm 2: 30% Final: 35%
