Graphs serve as models of many real-world and mathematical problems. For example you might want to draw a graph to represent the distances between different places and then order the spots that you want to visit. And if the places are many and you need to use computer, graphs become models of programing. Networking uses graphs to represent the relations between different websites. Machine learning uses graphs to denote the transform of stages by matrix multiplications following by other functions. Many mathematical problems use graphs to obtain visual and conceptual understanding. This is the first course of graph theory. The graph theory in different aspects will be taught from scratch in this class, including algorithmic, counting, structural, topological, probabilistic aspects.

1. Lecture Notes will be provided. 2. (Optional) A Course in Combinatorics (Second Edition) by J.H. van Lint & R.M. Wilson (Easy to find free PDF file version by google search) Basically I will follow the orders Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 31, 32, 33 of this book to teach. Because this book is hard to read, student is not necessary to read it.
