高級翻譯

This course focuses on advanced challenges in Chinese-English translation and some basic translation theory. Students will read and discuss chapters and complete exercises in one textbook and translation practice assigned by the instructor. Student grades will be based on periodic quizzes and exams designed to demonstrate student mastery of advanced translation skills. Class activities will attempt to recreate conditions found in translations companies with in-house staff, so that students will often work in groups as well as individually. The course trains students for real-world translation experience that one may encounter in a translation company.

This course is designed for DFLL students (majors and minors).

In-class individual and group activities. Some lecture and much discussion.

Homework 10% (10 grade points) Quizzes 40% (20 grade points each) Exams 50% (25 grade points each) -2 points from final grade for each unexcused absence.
