概述

This course aims to help students gain the ability and confidence necessary for their performances in terms of academic scholarship—to be able to read and write critically and scholarly through the practice of examining and writing of various genres. Whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student, this course will build on your core ability to read, write and research. At the end of the course students are expected to obtain a general understanding of academic writing and research process as they apply critical reading skills to evaluate academic texts and produce well-organised essays. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This course is designed for non-native English-speaking students to ensure that they acquire the basic language and research reading and writing capabilities essential both for their learning at higher education level and potential research career. The course will be conducted through a weekly seminar of two hours. In addition to the instructor′s presentation and demonstration, students are expected to take part in discussion, writing, and peer-review in class.
