華語(五)

In this course we will learn how to asking and giving directions, how to take transportation, talking about learning experiences and school lives, working experiences and conversation of job interview, and wedding customs in Taiwan.

The students who already taken the course of Elementary Chinese(I), or already learned Chinese over 200 hours. Students in the class should has sophisticated ability writing Pinyin and Characters, being able to talk about daily topics like travel, introducing an interesting place, birthday habits, transportation...and so on. NOTE: Students who missed the first two classes will be dropped from the course.

1. For effective learning, students are required to hand write the vocabulary (Chinese characters) in every lesson for multiple times to achieve familiarity. 2. Regular attendance is required, and students who have more than 5 unexcused absences will be failed. A total absence of 1/3 of course hours will lead to an automatic failure. 3. The syllabus can be modified during the semester depending on the condition of students’ learning. 4. Students who missed the first classes will be dropped from the course. 5. Students who missed the first two classes will not get enrolled. 6. Teacher reserves the right to drop and reject the students who miss the first and/ or second class. 7. Attend the class and complete the homework or tasks on time. 8. Make up quiz, test, presentations are “NOT” acceptable. Only if absent because of “health issue”, please show an official prove of hospital to get permission of make up test or quiz.

1. Homework and Quizzes(15%):Late homework will be reject and won’t get the score. 2. Attendance and Class Participation(25%):Absent without any reason more than three times will fail the class. Absent because of sick or public affairs should submit a certificate. 3. Midterm exam(20%) 4. Final exam(20%) 5. Oral Presentation(20%)
