Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) represent a major transition in transportation on many dimensions. It is an international program intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of surface transportation systems through advanced technologies in information systems, communications, and sensors. The objectives of this course are to introduce the latest development, theory, applications and future of ITS. Students will also be equipped with the ability to handle traffic data for model development. After completing the course, students will be able to: (1) gain a basic understanding of the concepts related to ITS technologies and industry applications (2) explain traffic phenomenon from data for the purpose of traffic management and control; (3) manipulate traffic data used in traffic and transportation; (4) apply models for ATIS and ATMS applications. (5) understand the latest development in ITS and the emerging issues in the future
