In today's business environment, information systems (IS) play a critical role in most organizations. Information systems not only perform routine functions in organizations, but they are critical to the organization's achievement of its strategic goals as well. It is therefore essential that managers should be fluent in the language of information systems and understand the role that information systems play in organizations. In addition, mangers must also understand how information systems are designed, constructed, implemented, and managed. The purpose of this course is to provide graduate students with an overview of information systems in the business world. It presents an organizational view of how to use information technology to create competitive firms, manage global organizations, and provide useful products and services to customers. Topics include the following but not limited: Overviews of MIS, Concepts of Decision Making, AI, and Business Models. Pro and Cons of using IS and e Commerce are also included. After taking this course you are expected to have basic understanding of what is IT and Why a firm needs to adopt IT.
