Solving many types of engineering problems requires an appreciation of variability and some understanding of how to use both descriptive and analytical tools in dealing with variability. Statistics is concerned with variability and its impact on decision making. This is an introductory course in engineering statistics. We focus on meeting the needs of engineering students by allowing them to concentrate on the applications of statistics to their disciplines. Consequently, examples and exercises are engineering based, and in almost all cases, we have used a real problem setting or the data either from a published source or from consulting experience.
Calculus.
1. The teaching materials are mainly extracted from Chapters 1~6 of the textbook. 2. It is strongly recommended to buy the textbook for your better study of this course! 3. Please do not print out any materials relevant to the textbook whose copyright is by Wiley! 4. From 5/11 on, please study the lecture notes Sections 5-1 ~ 5-7 and Sections 6-1 ~ 6-2 at the e3 digital teaching platform by yourself; however, no real classes will be offered at the classroom EDB27.
作業部份: 1. Homework Assignments 1: 10 Exercises selected from Sections 4-4 ~ 4-8; due at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, May 10 , 2021 (the 12th week). 2. Homework Assignments 2: 10 Exercises selected from Sections 5-2 ~ 5-6. Please submit it to either teaching assistant by 3:10 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 (the 16th week). 3. Homework Assignments 3: 2 Exercises selected from Section 6-2. Please submit it to either teaching assistant by 1:20 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 (the 18th week). 考試部份: 1. Midterm examination, from 1:20 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021 (the 11th week). Contents: Sections 4-4 ~ 4-9. 評量部份: 1. Homework Assignments 1: 20%. 2. Homework Assignments 2: 30%. 3. Homework Assignments 3: 30%. 4. Midterm examination: 20%. 5. Roll call: Extra 10% if you were present at 5/6's class; otherwise, extra 8%.
