介紹現有光學生物影像技術 目標: (1) To provide fundamental concepts in optics, laser, microscopy, linear and nonlinear molecular spectroscopy. (2) To help students develop physical understanding about the underlying principles of various emerging optical imaging techniques. (3) To motivate individuals into this exciting field to make innovation

Lecture/ PowerPoint slides: PowerPoint slides will be uploaded to the course website one week before the corresponding lectures.
Homework: 30% (3~5 problem-set) Take-home midterm (35%) Term paper :35% Pick up one of the topics in which you have the most interest and write a review-type term paper (7~12 pages; 12 pt; 1.5 line spacing) on the principles of a particular optical imaging method and its applications to biological studies. More than 30 references are required. Term paper types: (choose one type) (1) For methodology development: (a)Historical view: why this new method is needed (b)Concept original (c)Comparison with the previous method (d)Possible further application (2)For a biological system: (a) Which biological system had been investigated? What is its significance? (b) Which optical probing method is used? (c) Comparison with other methods used in studying this biological system (d) New finding by using this optical probing method
