The course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of academic writing. The course consists of three major components: 1. Exact language and academic grammar, 2. Clarity and style, and 3. Writing research paper. This class will be conducted in lecture/workshop formats. Part of the lesson will be a formal presentation and part will involve the completion of tasks in pairs or small groups. Whole class discussions will occur throughout the sessions.
Students will be able to 1. Use appropriate and exact language in their academic writing 2. Master the basics of sentence structure 3. Write with clarity and build their writing style 4. Organize ideas logically and with clear transitions 5. Properly organize and structure their papers
