教學方式

This is a 2-credit, one-semester course. Whether you have plans for an academic or industrial career, good communication skills are both a requirement for almost any job, and a necessity for getting a job. In this course, you will develop the scientific and technical reading and writing skills you need to understand and construct research articles in your specialist field. In addition, you will learn techniques for creating effective presentation materials and practice various methods of searching for and organizing technical information. These advanced communication skills are essential in many fields of science and engineering.

The final grade will be based on the following weight: • 10% In-class participation • 15% Abstract writing (due on 2021/04/05) • 10% Endnote reference citation on the selected paper (due on 2021/05/03) • 15% In-class quizzes • 30% 10-min Journal club talk (summarize the article, compare/contrast the article, critique and question, and present your conclusions) • 20% Your PPT preparation file for the 10-min journal club talk (due on 2021/06/22)
