Course outline: This is an introductory course in Linear Algebra with emphasis on basic knowledge and concepts. Course objectives: Solve the linear equation Ax=b by Gaussian elimination and Gaussian-Jordan elimination. Proof the properties of matrices and determinants and use them in solving problems. Describe and explain vector spaces: basis, dimension, change of basis, and solve Ax = b. Apply eigendecomposition and singular vector decomposition and differentiate their strengths. Leverage the SVD method on neural signals and assess how it could filter out noise. Formulate a real-world problem as a linear algebra problem and evaluate the performance of the linear algebra solution.
High-school level mathematics and understanding in vector, matrix, and linear equations.
